That’s Life
by Dean Kay and Kelly Gordon;

That’s life
That’s what all the people say
You’re riding high in April,
Shot down in May
But I know I’m gonna change that tune
When I’m back on top
When I’m back on top in June
I say,
That’s life,

and as funny as it may seem
Some people get their kicks,
stomping on a dream.
But I don’t let it,
I do not let it
get me down
Because this fine old world,
It keeps spinning around.
I’ve been a puppet,
a pauper,
a pirate,
a poet,

a pawn for a King.
I’ve been up and down
and over and out
So I know one thing:
Each time
I find myself
flat on my face
I pick myself up
and get back
in the race.
C’est la vie
I will not deny it.
I won’t even think of quittin’,

cause my heart won’t buy it.
If I didn’t think
It all was worth another try
I’d hop right on
that big bus with wings
so I could die.
I’ve been a puppet,
a pauper,
a pirate,
a poet,
a pawn for a King.
I’ve been up and down
and down and out,
So I know one thing:
Each time
I find myself

flat on my face,
I pick myself up
and get back
in the race.
That’s life,
I can’t deny it
I’m gonna roll with those punches
And I’m gonna try it
But if nothing is shaking
come this here July,
I’m gonna take wing
and to that moon I’ll fly . . .
Bye-bye!
