That’s life
Â
That’s what all the people say
Â
You’re riding high in April,
Shot down in May
Â
But I know I’m gonna change that tune
Â
When I’m back on top
When I’m back on top in June
Â
I say,
That’s life,

and as funny as it may seem
Some people get their kicks,
stomping on a dream.
Â
But I don’t let it,
Â
I do not let it
get me down
Â
Because this fine old world,
Â
It keeps spinning around.
Â
I’ve been a puppet,
a pauper,
a pirate,
a poet,

a pawn for a King.
I’ve been up and down
and over and out
Â
So I know one thing:
Â
Each time
I find myself
flat on my face
Â
I pick myself up
and get back
in the race.
Â
C’est la vie
Â
I will not deny it.
Â
I won’t even think of quittin’,

cause my heart won’t buy it.
If I didn’t think
It all was worth another try
Â
I’d hop right on
that big bus with wings
so I could die.
Â
I’ve been a puppet,
a pauper,
a pirate,
a poet,
a pawn for a King.
Â
I’ve been up and down
and down and out,
Â
So I know one thing:
Â
Each time
I find myself

flat on my face,
I pick myself up
and get back
in the race.
Â
That’s life,
Â
I can’t deny it
Â
I’m gonna roll with those punches
And I’m gonna try it
Â
But if nothing is shaking
come this here July,
Â
I’m gonna take wing
and to that moon I’ll fly . . .
Â
Bye-bye!
